Schalke Sign Macedonian Forward Besart Ibraimi
Skopje, January 14 2010 (HIM)
Ambitious Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 have completed the transfer of Macedonian international Besart Ibraimi from Renova for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old attacker has been given a three-and-half-year contract running until June 30, 2013. His contract with Renova was due to expire at the end of this season.
Ibraimi, who scored 13 goals in 26 matches in the Macedonian First Division last season and has netted eight times in 10 outings this term, has made five appearances for his national team to date.
"He’ll give us a lot of enjoyment but he is also one for the future," said head coach Felix Magath on the official Schalke website.
Ibraimi is Schalke’s sixth signing of the winter transfer window. They have already signed Tore Reginiussen, Edu, Peer Kluge, Alexander Baumjohann and Bogdan Mueller. Additionally, Mainz midfielder Tim Hoogland has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the club at the end of the season.
