Alexander the Great poisoned by the River Styx - researchers

Scientists from the US Stanford University believe that Alexander the Great, the King of Macedonia, was poisoned by the water from the River Styx in Greece.
The river was believed to be the mythical entrance to Hell.
It was based on a real steam now known as the Mavroneri, or Black Water, which springs from mountains on the Peloponnesian peninsula.

MACEDONIA
Macedonia, an ethnically mixed state of two million, is an official candidate for EU membership but prospects are clouded by a dispute with neighbouring Greece. Athens blocked Skopje's bid to join NATO in 2008, saying the country's name implies territorial claims to the northern Greek province of Macedonia. Greece said it will not allow Macedonia to advance in its EU path until a compromise is reached. Almost 18 years of U.N.-mediated talks have yet to produce a solution.

“Unheard-of” Towns in Macedonia, Montenegro and Romania Recommended to Australian Travelers

The towns of Ohrid in Macedonia, Cetinje in Montenegro and Cluj-Napoca in Romania were included in an article titled “Ten top towns in Europe you’ve never heard of,” published today in The Sydney Morning Herald.
The article recommends 10 towns for those who have already “done Venice, Paris and London” and “ticked off Prague, Budapest, Berlin and Dubrovnik” and who want “to delve a little deeper on [their] next European adventure.

Italian diver reaches 203m depth in Vrelo cave

Italian diver Luiggi Casatti exploring the Vrelo underwater cave near the Macedonian capital has reached a staggering depth of 203 metres on Tuesday.
This however does not mean that the diver touched the cave’s bottom, say representatives of the Vrelo speleological club.
The European diving team will keep exploring the cave in the next few days.

The smallest komita has 15, most experienced 22 years

With such an age, this year’s event which marks the biggest national holiday on August 2, is so far the youngest in her tradition. The average age of participants is 20 years. The most experienced, who is 22 years, this is the eighth part of the march
The youngest of this year triesetinata horsemen will ride the traditional march to the Ilinden Krusevo has 15 years, most experienced 22 years. With such an age, this year’s event which marks the biggest national holiday on August 2 is so far the youngest in her tradition. The average age of participants is 20 years. This is confirmed by the organizers, though not made an accurate calculation.

In Belgrade, the shop of Costa Ciriviri gathered Pitu, Mirce Acev, Borka Taleski, Tarcan and often navrakjal and Kosta Racin
Student days in Belgrade Kuzman Josifovski - Pitu were his revolutionary baptism. He becomes one of the organizers of the protests organized Belgrade students against the authority of Royal Yugoslavia.
